The San Pasqual Union School and the School’s Foundation…

Past President, Kelly Mayberry shared with Sunrise Rotarians the ‘neighborhood gem’ that is school for her son JD and her neighbors… The single-campus district provides K-8 education for students in the Eagle Crest area and the San Pasqual Valley…

Past President, Kelly Mayberry speaking to her fellow Sunrise Rotarians…

As Kelly shared the quality of the institution and the value it is to her family (she lives in the Eagle Crest area), she shared that this year the school will celebrate it’s 100th anniversary. Kelly shared facts on the School/District and that it’s enrollment is over 500 students; most from the immediate area, and some transfers in from other districts in Escondido…

Kelly spoke about the partnerships that enable the small district to be successful; due to their size/enrollment, their State of California funding is proportionately smaller than other districts in the Escondido area. So, partnering with parents and a Foundation, support is provided to enhance the educational opportunities available to the students and the benefit to their families…

The Foundation raises approximately $100,000 each year for its programs of support. A board of 9 members directs the activities of the Foundation…

Kelly shared the Vision and Values of the Foundation and spoke about efforts to upgrade technology needs at the campus as a major undertaking in the past two years… TVs in classrooms and Chrome books for each student were a major part of the Foundation’s efforts..

She also spoke about the support of the Foundation as the small district dealt with Covid restrictions…

The Foundation raises funds through two major events; the ‘Saints Soiree’ which will be held at the Guejito Vineyard on October 2, and the Scramble Golf Event in April…

Kelly suggested an opportunity for a partnership with Escondido Sunrise Rotary through support of a middle school student to the LEAD program through District 5340 and also some hands on projects that the Club might undertake…

Kelly closed her remarks with a quote from Forest Witcraft describing the importance of our work on this earth in support of young people… A legacy that all Rotarians can understand and strive for…

Support for our Escondido Community …

Our great community and the success of its businesses is all of our responsibilities… Support the businesses that are doing all they can to survive during this challenging time… Take out some chow… Be ready to support them when the economy begins working again…

The ‘Giving Arch’ on Grand Avenue and Centre City Parkway reminds us that Escondido is a caring, giving community…

To all; be safe and be well…. God Bless those men and women that carry the load at our medical facilities, and God Bless the first responders… May our governmental leaders be wise, thoughtful and smart as this pandemic is overtaken by our hard work and collective support…

In Person and Online Meetings:

Technical Support for Online Meetings:

Watch for emails defining the next meeting. The system works fine, dependent upon your technical support available through your PC or laptop…
