We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces…
 
 
 
 
 
 
Chris Miller, our past president was very willing to step in for Tina because for this first meeting due to Tina’s unfortunate fall

Kim Henson confessed and apologized to everyone especially Jack Anderson for not getting the bulletin done. Jack was so gracious to teach her everything she needed to know, however it was a bigger task than anticipated……

“Who Are You Anyway?”
 
Barry Baker, our illustrious ESR historian kicked this new meeting of the new year with a bit of trivia history. Here a few things you may not know:
 
4th President of the ESR – Jack Anderson, Jack is also the “grandpa” of ESR……
We found out that some of our members joined our club at a very young age……
The founder of Rotary Escondido West was Dr. Doyle Danenburg. They used to gather at the Fireside. Phil Robbins collected the dues at the door…..
 
Barry Baker was the secretary…..
 
The founder of Rotary International – Paul Harris. Mr. Harris and 3 of his friends goal was to just hang out and have fun while helping and serving the community……
 
The first club in California to have a woman join rotary was the Duarte club……
 
The 1st woman in ESR was Susan Mainly and she was the 1st president, she was a banker……

Barry asked for 4 volunteers to draw the rotary emblem on a piece of paper while blindfolded……

Big Opportunity this week was $324… Past President, Tony Criss picked the lucky card… OOPS Tony, not so quick… The card was not so lucky…
The consolation prize was $21… Past President, Jack Anderson had the lucky ticket and gets to enjoy a lunch on Rotary…

Our meetings will begin as a hybrid setting with in-person and on-line opportunities…The meetings will be technically managed by President Richard Agnew… Thanks for that Richard… And, Richard is prepared to support all of our attempts at joining the on-line meetings… Look for his email with details and links to log on to the upcoming Zoom meetings…
