We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces….
As a Club, we honored our nation with a salute to our Flag led by Joe Holtz, and an invocation was offered by past President Jack Anderson….

Rich Aeling talked about the bike reveal for Juniper school which will be Tuesday 12/19 at 8:30am at Juniper School
Judy Fitzgerald talked about the Community in Unity event that is coming up on 12/7, the cost is $40 and they are asking for button up pajamas to be donated for Rady’s Children’s Hospital
Judy also shared about the issue of human trafficking that is prevalent all over. There are 6 massage parlors that have been identified here in Escondido and they have been taken down
Joe Holtz introduced ESR’s newest inductee, Marco Perez. He was presented with his blue badge. Welcome Marco, we are glad to have you with us!!
Jim Ponder talked about Palomar Health Foundation and their annual Santa’s Workshop that is being held from December 11th to the 14th from 8am to 8pm. Thank you Escondido Sunrise Rotary for the very generous donation of $2500 to help with this project!! See flyer below for more info
Past President Rich Aeling reminded everyone of the upcoming bike build for the bike giveaway to Juniper School. We are meeting to put the bikes together at Aelott Air Conditioning on Saturday, 12/16 at 7:30am, breakfast will be provided
The annual Target shopping spree with some of the Boys & Girls Club kids will be held on 12/21 at 5pm at the Target in Escondido in the Escondido Promenade. This has been a very fun event and the kids love buying gifts for their families
Rich also updated us on Mike Dunlap who moved to Palm Springs and he will be resigning from the ESR club in order to join a Rotary club in Palm Springs but he promises to visit. That Palm Springs club is blessed to have the Dunlap family!!
The After 5 Club who has partnered with us on so many projects is having their annual dinner and auction on 2/17/24, they will be honoring George Weir. More info to follow later
President Mark announced again that, alas, the bell is gone again but Gerry Fay shed a little light on its possible whereabouts. It seems that Mr. Fay was approached by a sweet little boy wanting to swap a “bell” for some hot chocolate and a scone so Gerry said “of course I will buy you some for that bell” but when he came out the boy was gone so now, we are still without the bell and we’re not sure what Gerry did with the goodies…….

Our very own Past President Barry Baker stole the show with a “Holiday Surprise”. There were challenges to complete and stories to be told and as usual Mr. Baker shared some tidbits about our club that maybe we didn’t know. Thank you, Barry, for always entertaining us so well!!
