Program:

Alternatives Medical Clinic; Serving the medical needs of pregnancies and sexual diseases and, supporting families dealing with these challenges…

Club Secretary, John Schwab introduced our program speaker, Judy Fitzgerald, Executive Director of Alternatives Medical Clinic… Judy has only served as Executive Director for a few months, however has a long history of serving the organization…

Judy Fitzgerald speaking to Sunrise Rotarians…

Judy spoke about the mission of Alternatives Medical, and emphasized their medical accreditation through the AAAHC which places them in an equivalency with a hospital’s medical certification…Alternatives’ complete medical practice is the basis for the complete family services care they provide…

As a faith-based organization, their goal is to provide a sense of hope for every family that they serve. They focus on providing alternatives to each client they serve, engendering hope and a positive attitude to provide solutions for unplanned family challenges… To this end, they also focus on co-parenting to engage both the women and men involved with family issues…

Judy shared that approximately 68% of their clients dealing with unplanned pregnancy are from faith groups. And, one of the big challenges in this situation is the shame that comes about through an unplanned pregnancy.

Goals of the programs at Alternatives are to provide post-abortive counseling  and to support options that may include adoption. The provision of ultrasound information, unlike Planned Parenthood, demonstrates to the clients that a new life is in their bodies...

Other emphases includes teaching the importance for both the men and women involved in unwanted pregnancies to understand the importance of knowing about, and accepting family responsibilities…

Alternatives has built a community base, partnering with many other community organizations…

Outreach is important too, as Alternatives provides a full service mobile clinic to meet their clients where they are geographically with the inland north county service area…
