“Mirjana Rodriguez from Compact” & President Tina’s last meeting
June 22, 2023
As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…
We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces…

Past President Chris Miller and his beautiful wife Susy enjoyed some special family time with Chris's mom
Hi-Fives & Announcements…
President Tina awarded her final Rotarian of the quarter to the “Godfather of ESR” past President Rich Aeling. Much thanks and gratefulness for all you have done and continue to do for our club Rich!!
Grape Day 5K Update:
Past President George Beitner shared that he brought more posters for us to distribute. It would be great if every business in Escondido proudly displayed a poster
Program:
Past President Jack Anderson introduced Mirjana Rodriguez, a case manager from Compact.
Compact is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and implement high quality programs & services for individuals to reach their full potential.
They were established in 1989 in Escondido and currently have 26 on staff. Mirjana began her career in community service and she is still very enthusiastic about what this organization has done and will continue to do for the city of Escondido’s youth. They help to equip youth to be successful and provide mentorship. Not only do they serve individuals but the whole family.
Some of these services include:
Family Intervention Team (FIT)
Girls Rock Group
Guiding Good Choices Parenting Workshops
Project Hero Mentoring
Drug Free Communities (DFC)
They have leadership development that includes service learning, youth advocates, resident leadership academy, eastside crime innovations, career days & job shadow day.
Their intervention services include a juvenile diversion which is a program for the Escondido Police Department and it is designed to keep first time offenders from entering the juvenile justice system.
The CAT team (community assessment team) is an intervention program for families with school age youth (6-18) who may be at risk for future involvement in the juvenile justice system. COMPACT offers case management services, individual and group counseling and Pro-Social/Emotional Groups, which include:
Anger Management Group
Cannabis Abuse Workshop
Girls Club
Boys Club
Emotional Regulation Group
Decision Making
Healthy Relationships
Parenting Workshops
Mother-Daughter Workshops
Anti-Theft Workshops
Anti-Vandalism/Graffiti workshops
COMPACT, as you can see serves the whole person in order to help these individuals become everything they imagined they could be. Thank you Mirjana for joining us today to share about this amazing organization!!
Opportunity Drawing: Total today is $180 which Mark Hoekstra tried to pull the joker but it wasn’t his day, next time for sure and George Beitner is going to lunch with $22 in his pocket!!
Celebrating Sweet Gloria!!
But…..the biggest surprise of all was that there was 1 more ticket that was pulled and our very own Gloria Leffler had a chance to “win” tickets to "Disneyland" but it was all a ruse to surprise her with a little going away gift from us all!!
We all enjoyed a celebration cake from Cute Cakes bakery to honor her departure
Wishing you much joy and happiness as you begin a new chapter in your life and we will miss you very much. Please come back and visit us very soon!!
We will be dark for 2 weeks but will be returning on 7/13 at 7:30am to welcome our new president Mark Maus!!
Thanks for Attending Today’s Meeting…
Support for our Escondido Community …
Our great community and the success of its businesses is all of our responsibilities… Support the businesses that are doing all they can to survive during this challenging time… Take out some chow… Be ready to support them when the economy begins working again…
The ‘Giving Arch’ on Grand Avenue and Centre City Parkway reminds us that Escondido is a caring, giving community…
To all; be safe and be well…. God Bless those men and women that carry the load at our medical facilities, and God Bless our first responders… May our governmental leaders be wise, thoughtful and smart as this pandemic is overtaken by our hard work and collective support…
Online Meetings:
Technical Support for Online Meetings:
Our meetings will begin as a hybrid setting with in-person and on-line opportunities…The meetings will be technically managed by past President Richard Agnew… Thanks for that Richard… And, Richard is prepared to support all of our attempts at joining the on-line meetings… Look for his email with details and links to log on to the upcoming Zoom meetings…
Watch for emails defining the next meeting. The system works fine, dependent upon your technical support available through your PC or laptop…
SEE YOU SOON…… In Person or ONLINE… Next meeting; July 13th, 7:30 AM at the Chamber of Commerce…
Check President Mark’s email for the reminder…
