Escondido Sunrise Rotary; Meeting to Serve our Community via Zoom; and “Club Runner… A Handy Tool for Sunrise Rotary Members”… October 8, 2020

Editor’s Note…

As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we await the time we can gather together again…

So, we met via Zoom… On October 8…  Sunrise Rotary members talking about service and connecting through fellowship in new ways…

 

President Chris opened the meeting… Even with a gavel and the familiar chime of a gavel striking a bell…  18 Sunrise Rotarians joined the Zoom meeting… Nice job all of you for joining us…

‘Future President’ Mark Maus led the pledge to our nation’s Flag…

As the meeting got going, there was lots of ‘jawing’ between the Padre fans and the ‘lone’ Dodger fan… President Chris had to step in and nudge the conversation back to Sunrise Rotary and ‘Service Above Self’… Go Padres… Next year!!

Youth Protection Certification

President Chris reminded all that Youth Protection Certification is required if you work with youth in any of our programs.

Past President Mike O’Malley oversees the certification and recently sent emails with the forms, procedure and all the details…

Project Mercy Tijuana House Build Project

Past President Rich Aeling reported on this next year’s Tijuana House Build Project; he reported that due to the Covid pandemic, our project will entail constructing the frame elements of the house in San Ysidro from which they will be transported across the border to the project site. Likely to take place on a Friday in March, 2021… Watch for more details.

Escondido East Rotary Thanksgiving Dinner Delivery

President Chris announced that East Rotary is seeking drivers to deliver meals on Thanksgiving Day… Contact is with Darrol Castor of the East Club, contact President Chris to volunteer and connect with Darrol.

President Chris announced that plans are underway for one meeting a month to be held in person at Cocina Del Charro… This effort is underway as Cocina is not serving group meals at breakfast… Watch for details of a Sunrise/Sunset Rotary gathering for ‘Happy Hour’ …

Peanut Butter for the Food Bank:

Past President Rich Aeling announced that donations of Peanut Butter are important for the Food Bank… You can drop off you gifts at Aelott Air Conditioning on West Washington…

Support for the North County Veteran’s Stand Down:

Our program last week highlighted the value of the Veteran’s Stand Down; Escondido Sunrise will contribute $1,000 in support of the event… Our generous Club Members have added another $400 to the gift… So, $1,400 will be used to benefit our homeless veterans…

High Fives:

Secretary John Schwab shared that there will be a Chamber of Commerce Golf Event on November 2… This year’s event will benefit the Chamber’s ‘Rising Stars’ program supporting our outstanding high school students.

 

Program:

President Elect Richard Agnew presented the program on Club Runner, our connection to members within our Club, as well as with District 5340 and Rotary International.

 

 

 

Richard described for Club members the value of using the Club Runner website… He commented that recent, and continuing upgrades, have made the site more effective. This ‘Boot Camp’ will enable Club members to understand individual and Club information available the click of the mouse…

The ‘Landing Page’ will allow you to move about the web site and drill down to the specific area you are seeking and researching…

The ‘My Profile’ section allows members to view and update your personal information… Email addresses, mailing information, spouse/partner information and the like…

 

 

Email services; an area that allows one to send club-related messages to our members. This area is not for ‘personal’ or ‘business’ use by members…

 

 

 

Account information can be obtained, tracking your financial relationship with Escondido Sunrise Rotary…

Club documents; this area will allow you to bring up information that will be important for those likely new members that you are seeking to join us in our service to the community…
