As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…

 

President Richard opened the meeting in our new hybrid format… Many of us in person, a few of us online… 

And, he has his Presidential Bell… Gavel, stand and the beautiful brass chime…

 

And, Sunrise Rotarians enjoying the fellowship of an in-person meeting…

As a Club, we honored our nation with a salute to our Flag, led by Past President, Jeff Johnson…

 

An invocation was offered by Past President, Jack Anderson to begin our meeting…

Program

Past President Kelly Mayberry introduced our program, District 5340 LEAD program… Presented by District LEAD Chair, Jessica Long, a member of the San Diego Coastal Rotary Club…

 

Jessica began her presentation describing the LEAD “Leadership, Ethics, Aspiration and Determination” program of the District designed for 8th Grade students… As we will learn, LEAD provides an entree in Rotary, Leadership and Team work for middle school students as they prepare for high school and the leadership opportunities and decision challenges that await them…

Jessica shared the elements of the LEAD curriculum as they relate to individual decision making, ethics, and dealing with the hard choices that face 8th graders…

 

Jessica also shared the elements of the LEAD program that help the young people grow, including motivational guest speakers, leadership activities and outdoor adventure.

 

 

 

 

Jessica also described the leadership continuum that grows through LEAD, RYLA, Interact and ultimately Rotary membership…

 

 

 

 

Jessica also shared some of the feedback from LEAD participants and their parents… She encouraged our Club to become involved by sponsoring local students, or assisting other Clubs with financial support so they can send additional LEAD participants…
