As we all try to conduct our professional pursuits in new ways, it’s appropriate to remind ourselves of who we are as a Serving Organization… Our accomplishments, our fellowship and the reminder of our many successes is valuable as we seek new opportunities to serve…

 

 

We met again in person at the Chamber of Commerce… Great to enjoy the fellowship again and see all your smiling faces…

 

 

As a Club, we honored our nation with a salute to our Flag led by Joe Holtz…

 

And, an invocation was offered by Past President, Jack Anderson …

As part of the morning’s event, John Masson, Past President if Sunrise Rotary and a City Council member, will be posthumously honored with the 2022 Comet Award from the Palomar College Foundation…

Neighborhood Health to Become a Regular Part of “Feeding San Diego’s” Efforts to Support Community Hunger… Volunteers needed…

President Elect, Tina Pope shared that food distribution from Feeding San Diego, through the efforts of Neighborhood Health will take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday’s, beginning April 2 … 

Volunteers are needed to help with food distribution.. The events will run from 12 Noon to 3 PM on those Saturdays… Look for an email from Tina with details…

Escondido Sunrise will engage with this support effort as our “Rotarians at Work Day” on Saturday May 7…

 

 

District Rotary Golf Returns…

A District 5340 golf event will take place on Tuesday April 26 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn… Past President, Scott Putnicki is taking signups for the event…

 

Special Multi-Club Meeting to be Held on May 24 at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park…

Past President Rich Aeling hosted a “March Madness” night to enjoy the NCAA Basketball Championship game… As fate would have it, Rich’s ‘luck-of-the-draw’ Kansas team pulled out a second half win over North Carolina… Rich pleaded the ‘fifth’ as to the team draws…

SGT at Arms, Gloria Lefler reminded Sunrise Rotarians that the Polio Plus Jar is always open to donations at every meeting…

 

 

Program

June Cutter, President of the California Women in Leadership Association was our speaker, introduced by Doug Shultz… June is an attorney, and previously ran as a California State Assembly candidate against Brian Mainschein in a North San Diego District…

 

June began her presentation focusing on the need for women to become candidates in local, regional and statewide races… The California Women in Leadership organization is non-partisan, however is center-right based… In addition to the not-for-profit organization, they also have a PAC to support women candidates…

June’s presentation continued to show data regarding women in our communities and their strength in numbers, strength as decision makers and as economic strength in our communities…

The California Women in Leadership organization has expanded its efforts to support and encourage women in political roles throughout the country…

 

Data backs up the fact that more women are registered voters and they vote more often than men… 

June shared many slides with information supporting the data about the power available among women leaders…

 

She shared the comment that change in local, regional and state politics involves both the right message, and the right messenger…

 

She shared a quote from Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister as she concluded her presentation…
